Ghana Sept 2007

There are many reasons to not like flying.  One reason it is good for me, is it gives me time to think.  You are getting some of my thoughts. We are normally going 150 miles per hour through life (on the ground, not in the air smile).  So many things happening, so many things to do. On this little plane, flying through this vast world, sometimes life seems so small and so huge at the same time.  If I did not make it, if something happened, what difference would it make?

We all have choices.

I miss my wife, I miss my kids, and I miss the members of my congregations.  I understand a little the sacrifices people make for us.  I often pray we make the right (best) choices for the Gospel to spread; for people to learn about Jesus; so they can understand His bringing us into His family. Sometimes God calls us like the Disciples to:  “come follow Me and I will make you fishers of men”.  The disciples could have decided not to go.  They could have stayed safe at home with their families. They chose to give up everything for Jesus.

Sometimes God calls us to stay.  Like the man with the demons, Jesus threw the demons out.  The man wanted to go with Jesus, but Jesus told him to stay.  Stay and tell what Jesus did for him.

Plane rides give me time to think about my choices.  Often I am satisfied with my choices.  Sometimes I wish I could change my choices.  But I thank God He can make even our bad choices become good.  I don’t know what choices God has planned for me.  I only pray I have the courage to follow.

What choices are in your life?
