Karen’s Sunday Update:

Once, again, what a full, awesome, and Blessed day!!

We started the day making sausage, green pepper, and onion omelets to share with the teens.  Even though I made it myself, I have to say it tasted pretty good!!  (Okay! So I need to eat a little humble pie!!)  J  One of the teens has been fighting a cold, so gave her some cold remedies before they left for their day.  We, then, made our way to Deaf church.  Church was a little longer than usual as four of the Evangelists were installed as Vicars.  Pastor’s sermon had four Bible verses, one for each vicar.  It was very touching to witness their installation.  After the installation, two Baptisms were done; one for an adult member and one for Ernest’s (one of the vicars) 8-month old son.  I had the pleasure of meeting Ernest’s wife last year during her bed-ridden pregnancy after several miscarriages.  What a truly awesome and Blessed service.
After church it was off to lunch at an Indian restaurant with 2 of the vicars; buy some snacks for the Deaf Ghanaians, and rest before a meeting with church officials to discuss the plans for the Lutheran Deaf School.  Again, the subject of teacher(s), from America, to teach Ghanaian Sign Language was brought up and how to advertise the class.  Although I was interpreting, it was a chilling feeling to listen to the plans of starting the Deaf School.  Bricks, for the new structure, are in the making but it is a slow process.  Discussion then focused on getting the school up and running in a temporary facility before the school is finalized.  How exciting!!  Even the 4 vicars stressed the importance and excitement of getting the school started as soon as a temporary facility is made available.  Now the business-type work:  contact schools, find teachers, spread the word, and request prayers, prayers, and more prayers.
In talking with Amadu, it seems Linda and Betty Jo made it to Tamale safely.  The concern of getting a room was settled; one was being cleaned as they arrived.  Continue to keep them in your prayers and to give the needed strength to share the Gospel with His little children.
As this day draws to a close, please send extra prayers to ward of the Devil who seems to be working overtime with and among the Deaf Students.
God’s Blessings to each of you,
Karen

There were 4 Bible verses for each Vicar’s words – it is really awesome blessings! And also, there were 2 baptisms for 8 months old (one of Vicar’s son) and deaf guy. May God bless both of them.
