From Pastor Reinke:

My students are working on their tests today, so I am taking a little time to write.  They are doing a review test on major stories in the OT and NT.  Not easy - smile.  Do you know what is manna?  Mercy seat?  Mount Horeb or Mount Hor?

I got my fleece wet again.  Remember the story of Gideon and the sheep skin.  I am sometimes looking at the school project and it is sooo BIG.  But God continues to open the doors!  The Deaf School group met to discuss the plans for a Deaf Lutheran High School, Evangelist /Seminary School, and maybe University.  They have picked an architect to work with us and have a rough idea about cost.

Lord willing we will be able to raise $2 million to help the school get started, then they would add the other $4 million to expand the school.  That is a lot of money, but I know if this is what God wants then He has the money waiting for us.

As you can see by the emails Linda and Jean are seeing the "exotic" side of Africa.  How many ways can you make classroom teaching exciting in an email?? - smile

We have 4 of the leaders full time.  4 more come in the afternoon.  Then the rest in the evening for 3 hours.  Their economy is harder too and makes it more difficult for their boss to give them off from work.

They are doing a great job on the preaching class.  We are working on seeing what God makes the most important point of the story.  Many people will read a verse and look at something exciting in the story, but miss what God is trying to show.  Example is the feeding of the 5000 - it is the feeding that many people with a small number of fish and bread - right?  If you continue reading that chapter you see Jesus is wanting to show HE is the bread of life.  Uumm how do you put that in a sermon?

I want to Jamasi to see the school and be there for worship on Sunday.  One of the teachers lead the worship for adults and 1st sermon.  I was thrilled with the Worship and prayers, but the sermon  from Ruth how we need to take care of our parents and work hard.  I added the Gospel with the connection to Jesus (Matthew 1) and he is our (kinsman) redeemer.  Our Evangelist lead the worship for the younger children and he did a great job!
