THE EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD

INTROIT: All kings bow to HIM and all nations will serve HIM.  O God, give YOUR holy Son the power to judge with righteousness and honesty.  Because HE will help the poor people shouting for help, and HE will help the suffering people that no one else will help.  HE will show mercy and save the weak people from death.  HE will save those slave people and those suffering from beatings, because their lives are important to HIM.  Let HIS name stay forever, stay same long as the sun shines.

COLLECT: O God, in the past YOU led a star.  And with that star YOU show YOUR only Son to the people of other nations.  Now we know YOU through faith; but after this life, lead us to the full joy of YOUR glory in heaven.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

ISAIAH 60:1-6
     1.  Stand, shine same-as the sun, because the glory of the Lord is shining on you.
     2.  Darkness covers the earth and black darkness covers the people, but the light of the Lord shines on you, and HIS glory will be with you.
     3.  Nations will come to see your light and kings will come near to see.
     4.  Look-around you and see the things happening.  The people meeting together will come home.  Your sons will come from far-away.  Your daughters will be carried same-as children.
     5.  You will see this and be filled with joy.  You will be nervous with excitement.  The riches of the nations will be brought to you; yes, from across the sea riches will come.
     6.  Many CAMELS will come from the countries MIDIAN and EPHAH.  People will come from the country SHEBA bringing gold and perfume.  The people will tell the Good Story about the things that the Lord does.

EPHESIANS 3:2-12
     2.  You know that God in HIS mercy gave-me this work,  And God blesses you through my work.
     3.  God showed me HIS secret plan.  I already wrote about this in another letter.
     4.  If you read that other letter, then you will understand the secret about Christ.
     5.  Long-ago people didn't-know this secret.  But now God told HIS secret to HIS holy preachers and prophets.  God spoke through the Holy Spirit.
     6.  And this is HIS secret: people from other nations, not Jewish people, now can have God's blessings through HIS Good Story.  They are members of the same family.  They share in the promise God made through Jesus Christ.
     7.  God made me a preacher of this Good Story.  God gave me this work through the power of HIS mercy.
     8.  I am less worthy than any of God's people! But God gave me honor because HE let me preach to people in other nations about the wonderful blessings of Christ.
     9.  And God let me help all people understand God's secret plan. God made all things, and HE kept HIS plan secret through all past years.
    10.  Why? For the church to teach the angel managers and spirit powers about God's wisdom now.
    11.  This agrees with God's eternal plan.  And God did and finished the things HE planned through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    12.  In joining with Jesus and through our faith in HIM, we have the courage to meet God face-to-face.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HIS faithfulness remains forever.  Give glory to the name of the Lord, bring a gift and enter HIS house.

MATTHEW 2:1-12
     1.  After Jesus was born in the city BETHLEHEM in the country JUDEA during the time of king HEROD, wise men from the East arrived in the city JERUSALEM and said,
     2.  "Where is the new baby King of the Jews?  We saw HIS star in the East, and we came to worship HIM."
     3.  King HEROD heard this and those words bothered him and all the people in the city JERUSALEM.
     4.  Then HEROD had a meeting with the Jewish priests and Law teachers and asked them about the place of Christ's birth.
     5.  They answered, "In the city BETHLEHEM in the country JUDEA, because the prophets wrote the words:
     6.  'And you BETHLEHEM, in the nation JUDAH.  You are not the smallest city in the country JUDAH.  Because from you a King will come and HE will lead MY people, ISRAEL.'"
     7.  Then HEROD called the wise men in a secret meeting and asked them about the time the star first appeared.
     8.  And HEROD sent the wise men to the city BETHLEHEM and said, "Go and search-for the baby.  After you find the baby, come and tell-me, then I can go and worship HIM also."
     9.  After the wise men listened to the king, they left.  And the star they saw before in the Eastern sky now appeared again; and that star moved and stopped over the baby's home.
    10.  And happened  the wise men saw the star, they rejoiced with much happiness.
    11.  And they came into the house and saw the Baby with MARY, HIS mother.  And they knelt-down and worshipped Jesus.  They opened their gifts, and gave Jesus: gold, perfume, and sweet incense-smoke.
    12.  And God warned them in a dream, "Don't go to HEROD again."  Now the wise men left for their home nation another way.

FIRST SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: Praise to the Lord God of ISRAEL.  God does wonderful things.  Praise HIS glorious name forever.  YOU (Jesus) are the most perfect man and YOUR mouth speaks words of love, because God blesses YOU forever.  YOUR throne, O God, will stay forever; YOU will judge YOUR kingdom honestly.  YOU love righteousness and hate evil; now God put YOU higher than all angels.

COLLECT: Father in heaven, happened our Savior, Jesus Christ, baptized, YOU named Jesus, YOUR dear Son.  In our baptism we became joined with Christ, and we receive eternal life through Christ.  Help us all to do as YOUR children, as we promised in our baptism.   We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

ISAIAH 42:1-7
     1.  God says, "Here is MY servant.  I support HIM.  I chose HIM.  HE makes ME happy.  I put MY Spirit on HIM.  HE will judge the nations.
     2.  HE will not shout or quarrel in the streets.
     3.  HE will see a crushed STEM, but HE will not break-it-off.  HE will not blow-out a weak burning LAMP.  HE will encourage the weak tempted people.  HE will judge honestly.
     4.  HE will not fail.  HE will not be discouraged.  HE will come to judge the earth;  and the people across the seas wait to hear HIS teaching."
     5.  The Lord God creator of the wide-skies and the large world and all living things giving breath and spirit to all peoples says,
     6.  "I, the Lord, named YOU holy and protected YOU and I gave YOU to show the people MY promise is true.  YOU shall shine same-as a Light to the nations;
     7.  YOU will let blind people see;  YOU will free people from jail;  YOU will free also those people in very dark jails."

ACTS 10:34-38
    34.  PETER began speaking, "Now I understand.  God truly does the same for all people.
    35.  Because any person that honors God and does right, then God accepts him.  The color of skin doesn't-matter.
    36.  You know God announced to the Jewish people that Jesus Christ gives us peace.  Jesus is Lord reigning over all people.
    37.  You know JOHN preached about baptism in the country of the Jews.  Then Jesus did wonderful things, starting in the country named GALILEE.
    38.  And you know God the Father gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus.  You know Jesus travelled-around helping people and healing people from the devil's control.  Jesus could do these things because God the Father was with HIM.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 3:15-17, 21-22
    15.  The people began to hope for something wonderful and began to wonder if JOHN maybe is the Promised Savior.
    16.  JOHN told the people, "I baptize you with water, but the Promised Savior is much greater then me.  I am not important enough to untie the Savior's shoes.  The Savior will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
    17.  The Savior has the farmer's shovel to separate the good GRAIN and the bad parts.  The good GRAIN will be put in the farmer's BARNS, but the bad parts will be thrown in the fire that continues forever."
    21.  After all the people finished baptized, Jesus also got baptized.  While Jesus prayed, the skies opened.
    22.  The Holy Spirit came-down on Jesus same-as a DOVE.  And a voice spoke from heaven, "YOU are MY OWN dear Son.  I am very happy with YOU."

SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: I don't hide YOUR righteousness in my heart; I speak about YOUR faithfulness and saving work.  O my God, I want to obey YOUR Word.  I wait patiently for the Lord, and HE heard my crying.  HE helped me out-of my troubles, and HE gave-me strength.  HE taught me a new song to praise my God.

COLLECT: Almighty and eternal God, YOU reign all things in heaven and earth. With mercy hear YOUR people pray and give us YOUR peace all the days of our life.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

ISAIAH 62:1-5
     1.  For Mt. Zion I will announce.  For the city JERUSALEM I will not remain quiet until that city becomes holy, shining same-as a light, and until the city gets saved with victory same-as a fiery TORCH.
     2.  JERUSALEM, all nations will see that you are holy, and all kings will see your glory.  The Lord will give you a new name.
     3.  You will become same-as a beautiful crown in the Lord's hand.
     4.  Never again will people name you: "That nation God forgot."  Never again will people name you: "That nation God gave-up."  But your new name will be: "God is excited with you," and: "That nation married to the Lord."
     5.  The same-as a young man marries a girl, also your Maker will marry you.  The same-as a groom is excited with his bride, also your God is excited with you.

I CORINTHIANS 12:1-11
     1.  Now brothers and sisters, I want you to understand about spiritual gifts.
     2.  You remember your lives before you became a believer.  Other people influenced you to worship idols - things without life.
     3.  Now, I want you to know, no one speaks through the Spirit of God and says, "Curse Jesus!"  And no one can say, "Jesus is Lord!" except through the Holy Spirit's help.
     4.  We see different gifts, but the same Spirit.
     5.  We see different services, but the same Lord.
     6.  We see different works, but the same God does all these things in everyone.
     7.  But HE shows the Spirit to each one for the good of all.
     8.  Because through the Spirit, HE gives the words of wisdom to one.  And with the same Spirit HE gives knowledge to another.
     9.  Through the same Spirit HE gives faith to another.  And through the one Spirit HE gives the gifts of healing to another.
    10.  HE gives the power to do wonderful things to another.  HE gives the gift to speak prophecy to another.  Through HIM another can judge the spirits.  Through HIM another can speak languages.  Through HIM another can interpret languages.
    11.  One and the same Spirit works in all these things.  HE gives to each one as HE wants.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

JOHN 2:1-11
     1.  Now a marriage happened in the city named CANA in the country named GALILEE on the third day.  And Jesus' mother went to the wedding.
     2.  Jesus and HIS friends also received an invitation to the wedding.
     3.  Happened the wine was-all-gone, Jesus' mother said, "The people have no wine."
     4.  And Jesus said, "Woman, what is MY business to you?  MY time is not-yet here."
     5.  Jesus' mother told the servants, "Do anything Jesus tells you."
     6.  And six stone water JARS were-there, each one about twenty or thirty GALLONS.  These JARS were for the Jewish washing.
     7.  Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the JARS with water."  And the servants filled the six JARS.
     8.  And Jesus said to them, "Now dip-out and serve to the HOST of the wedding feast."  And the servants obeyed.
     9.  The HOST tasted the water now become wine, and he didn't-know that the wine was water before.  But the servants knew because they dipped-out the water.  And the HOST called the groom.
    10.  And the HOST said, "Every man serves the good wine first, and after men drink, drink, drink, then they serve the lousy wine.  But you kept the good wine until now."
    11.  Jesus did this first wonderful happening in the city named CANA in the country named GALILEE.  And HE showed HIS glory, and HIS friends believed on HIM.

THIRD SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: From the east to the west the name of the Lord is praised.  Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord.  Praise the Lord now and forevermore.  The Lord is praised in all the nations,  HIS glory praised in heaven.  HE helps the poor people out-of their broken houses, and puts them in seats next-to the princes.  To the woman she can't have any babies, HE gives her children to make her happy.

COLLECT: O Lord God Almighty, YOU always in the past gave several gifts from the Holy Spirit to YOUR servants, give us YOUR gifts today and give us the knowledge to use the gifts to YOUR honor and glory and the good of other people.   We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

ISAIAH 61:1-6
     1.  The Spirit of the Lord God is on me, because the Lord chose me to tell the good announcement to those suffering people, and HE sent me to comfort people with broken hearts.  HE chose me to announce freedom to slave people, yes freedom for those people in prison.
     2.  HE sent me to announce the year that God will accept people, yes, and HIS time to defeat their enemies.
     3.  For all people crying, HE will comfort them with a crown -- not ASHES; with happiness -- not crying; with praise -- not depression.
     4.  They will be the same-as trees that the Lord HIMSELF planted.  They will do the correct thing, and God will receive praise for HIS work.  They will build again those long-ago destroyed cities.
     5.  Then people of other nations will serve you same-as shepherds, and they will plow your fields and take-care of your VINES.
     6.  People will know you are priests of the Lord, the servants of our God.  You will enjoy the wealth of the nations, and you will be proud of those riches.

I CORINTHIANS 12:12-21, 26-27
    12.  Jesus' Church is the same-as a body.  We have many parts all in our one body.
    13.  Same with us, some of us Jews, some not Jews, some of us slaves, some of us free people, all of us baptized into Jesus' Church by the Holy Spirit.
    14.  The body doesn't have only one part, but the body has many parts.
    15.  Imagine your foot saying, "Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body," the foot truly still belongs to the body.
    16.  Imagine the ear saying, "Because I'm not an eye, I don't belong to the body," the ear truly still belongs to the body.
    17.  If the whole body were a big eye, how can the body hear?  If the whole body were a big ear, how can the body smell?
    18.  But God put all the many parts into the body same-as God wanted that to happen.
    19.  If all the parts were the same, then we don't have a body!
    20.  But now we have many parts all in our one body.
    21.  The eye can't tell the hand, "I don't need you," and the hand can't tell the feet, "I don't need you."
    26.  If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer too.  If one part of the body gets praise, all the other parts are happy too.
    27.  Now all of you are parts of Jesus' body, the Church, and each of you is a different part!

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 4:14-21
    14.  Jesus went again to the country named GALILEE, and the Holy Spirit was with Jesus.  The people talked about Jesus all over the country.
    15.  Jesus taught in their churches, and the people praised Jesus.
    16.  Then Jesus arrived at the town named NAZARETH.  Jesus grew-up in that town.  On the worship day Jesus went to the church same-as regularly.
    17.  A man gave to Jesus the book of the prophet ISAIAH.  Jesus opened-the-book and found these words written.
    18.  "The Holy Spirit of God is on ME, because God chose ME to preach the happy announcement to the poor people.  God sent ME to tell people in jail that they are free, to tell blind people that they will see, to bring happiness to sad people,
    19.  To announce the time that the Lord God will save HIS people."
    20.  Jesus closed-the-book and gave the book to the man, and Jesus sat-down.  All the people in church watched Jesus.
    21.  Then Jesus said, "Today while you are listening, these words are truly happening now."

[C]
FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: The Lord watches the way of the righteous, but the way of evil people will be destruction.  Happy is the person that doesn't listen to the advice of the evil people and doesn't sit together-with sinners and doesn't join with the mocking people.  But happy is the person that enjoys obeying the laws of the Lord and thinks about the laws day and night.  That person is the same-as a tree near the river growing good food and the leafs never wither.  Everything the righteous person does succeeds.  The evil person always fails.  The evil person is the same-as weeds blown-away.  Now the evil people will not stand in-front-of the judge; and sinners will not stand among the righteous people.

COLLECT: Almighty God, YOU know that we live with many dangers around us every-day and because of our sin we often weak, give us YOUR strength and protection to help us during all dangers and temptations.   We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

JEREMIAH 1:4-10
     4.  The Lord said to me, "I chose you before I gave you life, yes, before your birth,
     5.  I had a special holy job for you - MY prophet to the world."
     6.  JEREMIAH answered, "O Lord God, I can't do that.  I don't-know how to speak and I am only a young man."
     7.  But the Lord said to me, "Don't worry about your youth.  You will go every place that I send you and you will speak the words I tell you.
     8.  Don't be-afraid of the people, because I, the Lord, will be with you and help you."
     9.  Then the Lord touched my mouth and said, "Listen!  I put MY Words in your mouth.
    10.  Your work begins today for warning the nations and world kingdoms.  You will have power to criticize and take-away kings.  You will have power to destroy and defeat.  You will have power to begin and establish new kings."

I CORINTHIANS 12:27 - 13:13
    27.  Now you are all parts of the body of Jesus.
    28.  God chose different people in the church to do HIS work.  First people sent to tell God's word; second preachers; third teachers; then people doing wonderful works; then people helping heal the sick; then other helpers, leaders, and those speaking various languages.
    29.  Can everyone be sent to tell God's Word?  Can all be preachers?  Can all be teachers?  Can all do wonderful works?  No!
    30.  Can all heal the sick?  Can all talk different languages?  Can all interpret languages?  No!
    31.  But from your heart you should want the best gifts.  And I will show you the best way of all.
13:1.  If I speak with a beautiful voice of men and angels, but I have no love; then I am same-as a noisy trumpet or cymbals-striking-together.
     2.  Maybe I know and see the future. Maybe I understand all knowledge and understand God's secret things.  Maybe I have a strong faith and can move mountains.  But without love I am nothing.
     3.  Maybe I give all my earthly things and money to poor people.
     4.  This love is very patient and kind.  This love is not jealous and doesn't boast.
     5.  This love is not stuck-up and doesn't have bad MANNERS.  This love doesn't say, " Me first", and this love doesn't anger quickly.  This love doesn't-want revenge.
     6.  This love isn't happy seeing other people sin, but is happy seeing success of correct things.
     7.  This love never gives-up, never stops believing, never lets hope dissolve.  This love remains and remains.
     8.  This love never fails.  All prophets words will dissolve.  All heavenly and secret languages will stop.  All knowledge will dissolve.
     9.  Because our knowledge isn't perfect, and our prophet's words are not perfect.
    10.  But HIS time comes, and all will become perfect.  Then all these poor and weak things will dissolve.
    11.  Long-ago I was a child.  I talked and felt and thought same-as a child.  Now I am a man, and I dropped my child talk and feeling and thinking.
    12.  Now we only see a very obscure picture, because we are the same-as people trying to see in an old dirty mirror.  But in the future we will see all things clearly, face-to-face.  Now I only know a little-bit; but in the future I will know all things perfectly....same-as God knows me.
    13.  In this life we have three wonderful things: faith, hope and love; but the very best is love.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 4:21-32
    21.  Jesus began to speak, "These words from the Holy Writings are truly happening today."
    22.  All the people praised Jesus for HIS smooth preaching.  Some asked, "Is Jesus the son of Joseph? Correct?"
    23.  Jesus said, "I wonder if you will tell me the old story, 'Doctor, heal yourself.'  Do for us the same things you did in the city named CAPERNAUM."
    24.  Jesus said, "I tell you honestly, a prophet isn't respected in his home town.
    25.  Listen to me.  During the time ELIJAH lived, many women had no husband because the husbands died in EGYPT, because it didn't rain for three and one half years and not enough food in the country.
    26.  But ELIJAH wasn't sent to anyone except to the woman from the city named ZAREPHATH in the country named SIDON.  Her husband was dead.
    27.  Many people had a bad skin disease while ELISHA lived.  But noone became healed except the man named NAAMAN from the country named SYRIA."
    28.  All the people in the Jewish church became angry hearing Jesus' words.
    29.  The people stood-up and lead Jesus outside the town to a hill, because they wanted to throw Jesus off a cliff.
    30.  But Jesus escaped by walking through the center of the people leaving that place.
    31.  Jesus went to the city named CAPERNAUM in the country named GALILEE.  On the worship day Jesus taught the people.
    32.  The people were surprised with Jesus' teaching, because Jesus spoke powerful words.

[C]
FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: The light shines for the holy, loving, and righteous person during the darkness.  Praise the Lord.  Happy is the person that honors the Lord and obeys HIS commands.  Much wealth that person has and righteousness stays forever.  That person will not fear sad stories, but will stay strong and trust the Lord.  That person feels safe and will not fear; finally that person will defeat all the enemies.  That person gives gifts to poor people and righteousness stays forever.

COLLECT: O God, our loving Father, through YOUR Holy Spirit YOU put YOUR love in the hearts of YOUR faithful people.  Give YOUR servants a strong mind and body, that we can love YOU with all our strength and with all our heart and do things pleasing in YOUR sight.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

ISAIAH 6:1-8
     1.  In the year King UZZIAH died, I saw the Lord sitting on HIS throne in heaven.  HIS robe filled the temple.
     2.  Above God stood the special angels.  Each angel had six wings: two wings to cover-their-face; two wings to cover-their-feet; and two wings for flying.
     3.  One angel said to the other angels, "Holy, Holy is the Lord of heaven!  The whole earth is full with HIS glory."
     4.  The angel's voice made the whole temple shake and smoke filled that place.
     5.  And I said, "I will die because I am a sinner and I live with sinful people, and I saw the King, the Lord of heaven."
     6.  Then one of the special angels flew to me with a COAL brought from the altar.
     7.  The angel touched my mouth with the COAL and said, "See, this COAL touched your mouth; your sins are taken-away; you are holy."
     8.  Then, I heard the Lord ask, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"  Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

I CORINTHIANS 14:12-20
    12.  Because you want gifts from the Holy Spirit, ask the Holy Spirit for gifts that will help the whole Church.
    13.  If you have the skill to speak in a special language, pray for the gift to interpret that language.
    14.  If I pray using special languages, my spirit is doing the praying and my mind doesn't understand.
    15.  What should I do?  I will pray using my spirit and also I will pray using my mind.  I will sing using my spirit and also I will sing using my mind.
    16.  If you honor and give thanks to God using your spirit but making strange sounds noone understands, how can other people honor and give thanks to God if they don't-know anything you are saying?
    17.  You are honoring and giving thanks to God, but you are not helping other people.
    18.  I thank God that sometimes I can speak in special languages more than all of you.
    19.  But in a meeting of the church, it is better if I say fine words that other people understand and that helps other people, than to say 10,000 words using special languages.
    20.  Christian friends, don't think same-as children.  Think same-as adults.  But copy the faith of children.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 5:1-11
     1.  Many people came near Jesus; they wanted to hear the Word of God.  And Jesus stood near the lake named GENESARET.
     2.  And HE saw two boats near the lake.  The fishermen were washing their NETS.
     3.  One boat belonged to SIMON PETER, and Jesus entered that boat and asked PETER, "Row a little-bit from the land."  Then HE sat-down and taught the people from the boat.
     4.  Jesus stopped speaking and said to SIMON, "Row to the deep water and your NETS let-down and catch fish."
     5.  And SIMON answered, "Lord, we worked all night and caught nothing; but because YOU say that, I will let-down the NETS."
     6.  And the men let-down the NETS and caught many fish, and their NETS began to break.
     7.  And they called their helpers in the other boat to come and help.  And they came and filled both boats, and the boats began to sink.
     8.  SIMON PETER saw that, knelt-down in-front-of Jesus and said, "Lord, leave me because I am a sinful man."
     9.  PETER was surprised and also the other men, because of the many fish they caught.
    10.  JAMES and JOHN, the sons of ZEBEDEE, also were surprised.  They worked with PETER.   And Jesus said to SIMON, "Fear not; from now-on you will catch people."
    11.  Then they rowed to the land and dropped their NETS and followed Jesus.

[C]
SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: The evil people have many troubles, but the people trusting in the Lord have HIS eternal love around them.  Happy is the person forgiven of his sins.  Happy is the person that always speaks the truth, because the Lord doesn't count his sins.  I confess my sins to YOU, and I don't hide my law breakings.  I will confess my mistakes to the Lord,  and HE forgives all of my sins.  Now let all the holy people pray to YOU and find YOU, Lord;  because happens that the great oceans cover-over us, then we can never find YOU.  God, YOU help protect us from all trouble and save us from destruction.

COLLECT: Lord God, YOU hear the prayers of YOUR people.  Help us to see and to understand the things we should be doing and give to us YOUR love and power to do those things.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord. Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

JEREMIAH 17:5-8
     5.  The Lord says, "I will condemn anyone that trusts in people and depends on man's strength and doesn't attend to ME.
     6.  That person is the same-as a bush in the dry country.  That bush grows in the dry places on salty ground; places people can't live.  Nothing good happens to that person.  None.
     7.  But happy is the person that trusts in the Lord and depends on the Lord.
     8.  That person is the same-as a tree growing near a stream and the roots go deep toward the water; heat and many months of dryness don't bother that tree;  the leaves stay green and it continues growing delicious food."

I CORINTHIANS 15:12; 16-20
    12.  If we preach that Christ arose from the dead, can some of you say, "Dead people don't arise?"
    16.  You see, if dead people don't arise, then Christ didn't arise.
    17.  And if Christ didn't arise, then your faith can't help you, and you are still burdened with your sins.
    18.  Then those believers in Christ now dead are lost.
    19.  If our hope in Christ is good for this life only and no more, then we deserve more pity than anyone else in all the world.
    20.  But now Christ finished arose from the dead, and that is the promise that those believers now dead will also arise.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 6:17-26
    17.  Jesus came-down from the hill and stood on a level place with many of HIS followers.  Many people came from the whole country of the Jews, from the city named JERUSALEM and from near the sea, the towns named TYRE and SIDON.
    18.  The people came to hear Jesus and have their sicknesses healed.  The people bothered by evil spirits also came and became healed.
    19.  All the people tried to touch Jesus because power came out of HIM and made them healed.
    20.  Jesus looked at HIS followers and said, "Blessed are you poor people, you have God's Kingdom.
    21.  Blessed are you hungry people, you will be-satisfied.  Blessed are you crying people, you will laugh.
    22.  Blessed are you if people hate you and stick-up-noses at you, mock you, and say you are evil because you believe in the Son of Man.
    23.  Be happy if that happens and dance because you will have a great gift in heaven.  You see that the same way people in the past did to the prophets.
    24.  But true terrible for you rich people.  You finished have your easy life.
    25.  But true terrible for you people finished eating full.  You will be-hungry.  True terrible for you people laughing now, you will cry and grieve.
    26.  True terrible if all people praise you because the people in the past did the same thing to false prophets."

SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: The Lord is full of mercy and kindness, slow to become angry, and overflowing with love.  Praise the Lord, Oh my soul;  all inside me, praise HIS holy name.  Praise the Lord, Oh my soul, and don't forget all HIS blessings.  HE forgives all my sins and heals all my sicknesses;  He saves my life from destruction and fills me with love and mercy.  HE satisfies all my needs with good things and I become excited same-as a young child.  HE doesn't punish us same-as we deserve.  Same-as the sky is high above the earth,  the same great is HIS love for those people that honor HIM;  the same far-away the east from the west, the same far-away HE throws our sins.

COLLECT: Lord God, we ask YOU to keep YOUR family, the Church, always faithful to YOU.  Let us depend on the hope of YOUR promises and get strength from the power of YOUR love.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

GENESIS 45:3-8, 15
     3.  JOSEPH said to his brothers, "I am JOSEPH!  Is my father still alive?"  But his brothers were-shocked and couldn't answer.
     4.  Then JOSEPH said, "Please come near to me."  They came near, and he said, "Yes, I am your brother JOSEPH.  You sold me same-as a slave to EGYPT long ago.
     5.  But now don't grieve.  Don't blame yourselves for selling me here.  Because God truly sent me here to save the people's lives.
     6.  For two years already no food grows and that will continue for five more years, and happens that no farmer can plant and grow food.
     7.  God sent me here first to hold some food for you, and to save your life, your family, and your future children.
     8.  See, God sent me here, not you.  God made me reign over the king's house and over all EGYPT."
    15.  JOSEPH kissed all his brothers and cryed, then the brothers talked with him.

I CORINTHIANS 15:35-38; 42-50
    35.  But someone will ask, "How do dead people arise?  And what will their body look-like?"
    36.  Foolish people!  The seed you sow must die before that begins to grow alive.
    37.  And the seed you sow doesn't look-like the flower that grows.  The seed is small and round, but the flower is big and beautiful.
    38.  And God gives each seed a special kind of flower.
    42.  That is the way is will happen at the time of the arising from the dead.  Happen that the body is buried, it is dead; but it will arise to live again.
    43.  The body is buried with shame; it will arise to live with glory.  The body is buried in weakness; it will arise to live in power.
    44.  The body is buried a natural body; it will arise to live a spiritual body.  Same-as we have a natural body, also we have a spiritual body.
    45.  The Holy Writings says, "ADAM, the first man, was-born with a natural body; the last ADAM is a life giving Spirit."
    46.  The natural body happens first, then happens the spiritual body.
    47.  The first man was-made from the ground; the SECOND MAN comes from heaven.
    48.  The people born on earth are the same-as the first man made from the ground; the people of heaven are the same-as the SECOND MAN from heaven.
    49.  Same-as we copy from ADAM, same also let us copy from the SECOND MAN from heaven.
    50.  I tell you, Christian friends, body and blood can't be in God's Kingdom; dead things can't be-joined to living things.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 6:27-38
    27.  But I tell you, love your enemies, show kindness to those hating you,
    28.  Give a blessing to the people cursing you, and pray for those people cruel to you.
    29.  If anyone hits you on the face right, turn face to left.  If anyone takes your coat, give also your shirt.
    30.  If anyone asks you for something, give it.  And if anyone takes your things, don't try to get that back.
    31.  Do to other people the same way you want other people to do to you.
    32.  If you show love to people that love you, truly no great profit from that.  Sinners also show love to people that love them.
    33.  If you help someone because he helped you, truly no great profit from that.  Sinners also do that.
    34.  If you loan something to someone and you expect to get something again from him, truly no great profit in that.  Sinners loan things expecting to get something again.
    35.  But instead love your enemies, help them, and loan to them without expecting to get anything again.  Then you will have great profit and you will be the children of the most high God, because HE shows kindness to people that don't thank HIM and are wicked.
    36.  Show mercy the same-as your heavenly Father shows mercy.
    37.  Don't judge other people, and they will not judge you.  Don't condemn other people, and they will not condemn you.  Forgive and they will forgive you.
    38.  Give, and they will give to you a good measure, pressed-down, shaken, overflowing.  How-much you give, they will give the same again to you.

EIGHTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
INTROIT: Oh my soul, find rest with God; my salvation and my honor depend on God.  My soul finds rest only with God;  my salvation comes from HIM.  HE is my strength and my Savior;  HE protects me and I will not fear.  O people, trust in HIM always; tell God your problems, becuase HE is YOUR protector.  One thing God spoke;  two things I heard:  that YOU, O God, are strong, and that YOU, O Lord, are loving.  Truly YOU will bless each person according to the things that person does.

COLLECT: O Lord, in mercy hear our prayers and free us from our sins and defend us against all evil.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Jesus lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, eternally one God.  Amen.

JEREMIAH 7:1-7
     1.  The Lord spoke to JEREMIAH saying,
     2.  "Stand at the door to the Lord's house and announce, 'All you people of the country JUDAH coming to worship attend to the word of the Lord.
     3.  The Lord of heaven, the God of ISRAEL, says you live correctly and do good, and I will live with you in this land.
     4.  Don't trust those people speaking falsely and telling you this is the Lord's temple, then God won't let JERUSALEM be-destroyed!
     5.  No!  If you will truly live correctly and do good, if you will do good to one-another,
     6.  If you are not cruel to visitors, and to children without parents, and to women without husbands, and you don't kill innocent people, and you don't worship false gods,
     7.  Then I will live with you in this land that I gave to your fathers long ago.

I CORINTHIANS 15:51-58
    51.  Now I will tell you a secret..  We will not all die, but we will be changed.
    52.  In a minute, same-as closing your eye, happens you hear the last trumpet.  Then the dead people will arise to life, and we will be changed.
    53.  This natural body must be changed to a spiritual body, and this dead body must be changed to a living body.
    54.  After this natural body is changed to a spiritual body, and this dead body is changed to a living body, then the Holy Writing will happen true:
    55.  "Death is conquered with victory.  Where is the power of death?  Finished!  Where is the pain of death?  Finished!"
    56.  The pain of death comes from sin, and the Law gives sin that power.
    57.  But thank God for giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
    58.  My Christian friends, be-strong in faith and let nothing change you.  Always do the work of the Lord because you know your hard work for the Lord isn't wasted.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 6:39-49
    39.  Jesus told a comparison story to them, "Can a blind man lead another blind man?  Or will both fall in a hole?
    40.  The student is not over the teacher, but everyone under good teaching will become the same-as the teacher.
    41.  Why do you notice the TWIG in your friend's eye, but you don't see the LOG in your-own eye?
    42.  Or how can you say to your friend, 'Let me take-out the TWIG from your eye', and you yourself don't see the LOG in your-own eye?  Hypocrite, first take-out the LOG from your eye, then you can see clearly to help your friend take-out the TWIG from his eye.
    43.  Because a good tree can't grow bad food, and a bad tree can't grow good food.
    44.  You know that tree by seeing the food.  You don't pick FIGS from THORN bushes, or grapes from a blackberry bush.
    45.  A good person gives good things from all the good things kept in his heart, and an evil person gives evil things from all the evil things kept in his heart.  The words you speak come-out from your heart.
    46.  Why do you name ME, 'Lord, Lord,' but you don't obey MY words?
    47.  Any person coming and listening to MY words and obeying,
    48.  Is the same-as a man building a house.  The man digs deep and builds the house on a strong rock.  Then the rains come and the water tries to wash away the house.  But the water can't move the house, because the house is built strong.
    49.  But the person that hears MY words and doesn't obey is the same-as a man building his house on the dirt.  The rains come and the house moves and is destroyed."

THE TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD
INTROIT: Praise the Lord our God and worship in HIS holy Church, because the Lord our God is holy.  The Lord reigns, let the nations fear;  the Lord sits on HIS throne with angels around HIM, let the earth shake.  Great is the Lord in heaven;  HE reigns over all the nations.  Let the nations praise YOUR great and wonderful name -- HE is holy.  The King is mighty, HE loves honesty -- YOU always show fairness; in ISRAEL YOU finished doing the correct and fairness thing.  Praise the Lord our God and worship HIM; HE is holy.

COLLECT: O God, in that glorious transfiguration of YOUR only Son YOU proved the secret of the faith of our fathers, and with YOUR voice from that cloud YOU showed YOUR acceptance of us through Jesus.  In mercy give us that same glory that YOU showed in Jesus, and bring us to that glory in heaven.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, YOUR Son, our Lord.  Amen.

DEUTERONOMY 34:1-12
     1.  MOSES left the country of MOAB and went to Mt. NEBO.  That part of the mountain named PISGAH is east from the city named JERICHO.
     2.  And the Lord showed MOSES all the promised land.....far north and far south and west to the sea.
     3.  And the Lord told MOSES, "This is the land I promised ABRAHAM, ISAAC and JACOB.
     4.  I told them I will give this land to their children.  I let you see it with your-own eyes, but you will not go there."
     5.  Now, MOSES the servant of the Lord died in the land of MOAB same-as God decided.
     6.  And God buried MOSES in MOAB in the valley near the city BETH-PEOR.  But no one found his grave.
     7.  MOSES lived for 120 years.  His eyes saw perfect and his body was still strong.
     8.  The Jewish people cryed for MOSES in the land of MOAB for 30 days until the time for crying and grieving for MOSES ended.
     9.  Then the Spirit of wisdom filled JOSHUA, son of NUN, because MOSES before blessed him.  Now the Jewish people listened to him and obeyed the commands the Lord gave through MOSES.
    10.  Since that time, ISRAEL never had a prophet same-as MOSES.  The Lord knew that man face-to-face.
    11.  Think of those wonderful happenings and proofs the Lord sent MOSES to do in EGYPT against king PHAROAH and his servants and against the whole nation!
    12.  Think of the mighty things and those great and terrible things MOSES did before the eyes of all the Jewish people.

II CORINTHIANS 4:3-6
     3.  Sometimes people don't understand our preaching the Good Story to them.  That happens to some people because they are lost in sin.
     4.  They don't believe because the evil god of this world blinds their minds.  Then they don't see the light of the Good Story about the glory of Christ.  Remember, Christ is the same-as God.
     5.  We aren't preaching about ourselves, but we preach that Jesus Christ is Lord; and we are only your servants in the name of Jesus.
     6.  Remember, God said, "Let light shine out-of darkness."  Now God shines HIS light in our hearts, and that light gives us knowledge about God's glory -- the same glory shining in the face of Jesus.

GRADUAL: Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise HIM, all you people.  Because HIS love is great to us, and HE stays faithful forever.  Give glory to the Lord, and enter HIS house bringing a gift.

LUKE 9:28-36
    28.  Now about eight days later Jesus brought PETER, JOHN and JAMES to a mountain to pray.
    29.  And while Jesus was-praying, HIS face changed and HIS clothes became white and shining.
    30.  And, look, two men talked with Jesus, one man was MOSES and the other man was ELIJAH.
    31.  Both man shone same-as Jesus, and they all talked about Jesus' death that would happen in the city named JERUSALEM.
    32.  Now PETER and the other friends were-sleeping, and they awoke and saw Jesus' shining body and the two men with Jesus.
    33.  And the same time MOSES and ELIJAH disappeared, PETER said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents, one for YOU, one for MOSES, and one for ELIJAH."  PETER didn't think first before saying those words.
    34.  While PETER was-saying that, a cloud came over the mountain all around them, and they became afraid.
    35.  And they heard a voice in the cloud saying, "This is MY Son, MY Special One, listen to Jesus."
    36.  And the voice stopped, they saw only Jesus.  And the three friends kept secret and told no one about the things they saw on the mountain.
